The Three Sea Initiative (3SI) – Update

Feb 5, 2024

The Three Seas Initiative (3SI) is a commercial platform that connects 13 EU member states located between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas. Its main objectives include reducing regional disparities, promoting economic growth, and creating a North-South transport corridor in the region.

With the support of the US, Germany, and the European Commission, 3SI aims to strengthen European cohesion and consolidate transatlantic ties. The (planned) inclusion of Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova in the initiative is a significant step towards increasing the geopolitical value and attractiveness of the project.

3SI’s countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece and Bulgaria.

Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia are in the process of joining the 3SI, possibly already this year.
